What it is
Calm Cycle is a private period tracker for iOS. It helps people understand and track their cycle without asking them to trade away sensitive health data for a free app.
The current product covers setup, daily tracking, and local-data controls without requiring an account.
Who it is for
It is for people who want a calm, useful tracker and have a high bar for privacy, especially where an account, advertising profile, or opaque cloud sync would make the product feel less trustworthy.
The constraint
Health tracking starts with data trust. The product needed to make the privacy stance concrete in the experience, not bury it in a policy page or ask people to infer it from marketing language.
Product decisions
- Make local storage the default, with no account required.
- Avoid ads and the incentives that come with turning sensitive behavior into an audience.
- Use a one-time purchase instead of making people pay for privacy with recurring access to their data.
- Build the product around calm, legible tracking rather than engagement loops.
What I built
I took Calm Cycle from product framing through design and implementation as a native iOS app in Swift and SwiftUI. The work combined interaction design, the privacy model, and the details of the daily tracking flow into one coherent product.
Status
Calm Cycle is public. Its product promise is deliberately simple: no ads, no account required, local storage by default, and control over when data is shared or synced.
